This artistic rendering depicts a cooperative interface constructed from “lithiophilic” nitrogen-doped graphene frameworks and “sulfiphilic” nickel–iron layered double hydroxides proposed by J.-Q. Huang, Q. Zhang, and co-workers on page 9551. Such a cooperative interface synergistically affords bifunctional Li and S binding to polysulfides, suppression of the polysulfide shuttling, and electrocatalytic activity toward the formation of lithium sulfides for high-performance lithium–sulfur batteries.
