Front Cover: Molecular Understanding of the Bulk Composition of Crystalline Nonstoichiometric Hydroxyapatites: Application to the Rationalization of Structure-Reactivity Relationships (Eur. J. Inorg. Chem. 17/2016)
The cover picture shows the structure of defective crystalline hydroxyapatite (Ca in blue, phosphate in green, OH in red), showing the kind of defects – carbonates (black), hydrogenphosphates (pink), Ca and OH vacancies (circles with dashed boundaries) – that can be created to fine-tune its acid-base reactivity. We have shown that increasing the OH concentration increases the basic reactivity of this highly promising heterogeneous catalyst. Details are discussed in the article by G. Costentin et al. on p. stract" title="Link to external resource: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ejic.201600244/abstract" target="_blank">p. 2709 ff.
