Halogen-bonded supramolecular capsules … … were investigated in the solid state, in solution, and in the gas phase. In their Communication on page 1152 ff. F. Diederich and co-workers describe the first X-ray crystal structure of a discrete, neutral, dimeric capsule assembled solely by halogen bonding. Tuning the halogen bonding donor with iodoethynyl leads to the highest reported association constant for neutral halogen bonding interactions in solution.
