In contrast to a multiple step layer-exfoliation process (“bottom-up” mechanism), α-Ni(OH)₂ monolayer nanosheets are prepared by dissolving NiCl₂ in pure EtOH followed by NaOH addition (60 °C, 24 h), vacuum filtration, washing, and drying in air at 80 °C.
