A three dimensionally ordered macroporous film of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (3DOM PEDOT) has been electropolymerized from an ionic
liquid, 1-butyl-3-methy
limidazo
lium hexafluorophosphate. Bragg diffraction of the highly ordered microstructure shows full-color
light reflection, and the color changes with a s
light change in the angle of incident white
light. In electrochromic studies, the 3DOM PEDOT film exhibits high transmittance modulation, high ionic fast switching speeds, and good cyc
ling stabi
lity. The 3D interconnected macroporous nanostructure is beneficial for fast ion and electron transport, high ion accessibi
lity, and structural integrity, resulting in high cyc
ling stabi
lity and fast switching. More information can be found in the Full Paper by Yao Li et al. on
