5Se
12 (A = Rb, Cs), which adopt a 3D diamond-like framework (DLF) consisting of MSe
4 (M = Zn/In) tetrahedra have been synthesized. These exhibit a good balance between strong second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency (4×AgGaS
2) and high laser-induced damage thresholds (LIDTs) (13×AgGaS
2). Upon analyzing their structure–property relationship, these DLF structures represent an unprecedented opportunity for the rational design and development of good IR non
