Fabrication of 2D amorphous nanosheets is a great challenge. In their Communication on
page 1600 ff., Q.
Xu and co-workers report a novel method to obtain amorphous molybdenum oxide (MoO
3) nanosheets. Upon illumination, these MoO
3 sheets exhibit tuned surface plasmon resonances in the visible and near-IR regions. The cartoon characters represent the CO
2 molecules, which aid the formation of the amorphous nanosheets. The MoO
3 can catch the light that is represented by light beams and light spots.
