Patients with diabetes have an increased risk of stroke with a poor prognosis. Moreover, diabetic patients are at increased risk of depression and therefore likely to use selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). We examined whether preadmission SSRI use was associated with increased mortality in diabetic patients hospitalized due to stroke.
