Synthesis, Structural Characterization, and Biological Evaluation of Novel Substituted 1,3-Thiazole Derivatives Containing Schiff Bases

In this study, thiazole derivatives containing Schiff bases (ef="#jhet2565-eo-0022" rel="references:#jhet2565-eo-0022 #jhet2565-eo-0023 #jhet2565-eo-0024 #jhet2565-eo-0025 #jhet2565-eo-0026 #jhet2565-eo-0027 #jhet2565-eo-0028 #jhet2565-eo-0029 #jhet2565-eo-0030 #jhet2565-eo-0031 #jhet2565-eo-0032 #jhet2565-eo-0033 #jhet2565-eo-0034 #jhet2565-eo-0035 #jhet2565-eo-0036 #jhet2565-eo-0037 #jhet2565-eo-0038 #jhet2565-eo-0039">) were synthesized in moderate to high yields (49–94%) using the Hantzsch reaction with thiosemicarbazone derivatives (ef="#jhet2565-eo-0012" rel="references:#jhet2565-eo-0012 #jhet2565-eo-0013 #jhet2565-eo-0014">) and 2-bromo-1-phenylethanone derivatives (ef="#jhet2565-eo-0016" rel="references:#jhet2565-eo-0016 #jhet2565-eo-0017 #jhet2565-eo-0018 #jhet2565-eo-0019 #jhet2565-eo-0020 #jhet2565-eo-0021">). The structures of synthesized compounds were elucidated by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, elemental analyses, mass spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis techniques. Moreover, the synthesized compounds were tested for their <em>in vitroem> antifungal activity and most of them exhibited moderate to good activity against <em>Fusariumoxysporumf.sp. lycopersici.em>
