Stand for selectivity! In their Communication on nie.201610552" rel="references:https://doi.org/10.1002/anie.201610552">page 1775 ff., J. Pérez-Ramírez et al. show the outstanding selectivity of ligand-modified Pd nanoparticles for direct H2O2 synthesis. The hybrid nanostructure makes possible the vertical adsorption of the OOH intermediate on the surface, preventing undesired dissociation and over-hydrogenation paths. The configuration is stabilized by electrostatic interactions with the ligand, as illustrated by the threads holding the Pinocchio marionette.
