As I discussed in my last article (see Oct. 2016 issue), some parents may have trouble “stepping back” as their student starts college. Some disability services providers try to ease this transition by meeting with parents and students as the college transition begins. But at the Savannah College of Art and Design, staff members go further, integrating parents into their students' transition by inviting them to join in a special orientation program called Jump Start.
