On page 6198, H.-Y. Wang, H.-B. Sun, R. Proietti Zaccaria, and co-workers describe the dynamics of two hybrid bands formed by the interaction of strongly coupled plasmon polaritons and excitons. A remarkable long life time of the higher energy band is found and ascribed to a newly identified trap state emerging under resonant excitation. This characteristic can be applied to provide a new approach to control quantum-mechanical states under coherent coupling.
