In article number 1600583, Yong-Hoon Kim, Jeung Ku Kang, and co-workers describe core-shell metal oxides with energy states enabling fast photo-catalytic electron-hole separation, where their shells are constructed to create the valence band maximum extending the photoactive spectrum for visible light absorption. These visible light sensitizing core-shell photocatalysts allow efficient solar-to-fuel conversion of carbon dioxide into value-added fuels such as methanol.
