The phosphor CaAl₂O₄:0.125%Eu²⁺,0.25%Nd³⁺ is synthesized by reaction of stoichiometric mixtures of CaCO₃, Al₂O₃, Eu₂O₃, Nd₂O₃, and a 3% excess of H₃BO₃ as a flux (5% H₂/95% N₂ stream, 1400 °C, 4 h).
