Single crystals of the new compounds M₂Ca₃B₁₆O₂₈ (M: Rb, Cs) are grown from melts containing Rb₂CO₃ or Cs₂CO₃, CaCl₂, H₃BO₃, and PbO in the molar ratio of 1:1:14:5 (Pt crucible, fast cooling from 700 °C to 610 °C and then cooling to 550 °C at a rate of 2.5 °C/h).
