Heterogeneous catalysts intensify hydrothermal fractionation. Effects of ruthenium catalyst, temperature, time and catalyst support are discussed. RuCl3-based catalysts show good activity for the arabinoxylans extraction. Liquid extracts are characterized in terms of sugars, molecular weight and purity.
