The coding sequence of E. siliculosus CYP5164B1 enzyme has been expressed in E. coli. The recombinant 477 AA protein preferentially utilized linoleate 9-hydroperoxide. Enzyme produced the epoxyalcohols like 9,10-epoxy-11-hydroxy-12-octadecenoic acid. Both 18O atoms from [18O2]9-hydroperoxide largely incorporated into epoxyalcohol. CYP5164B1 is a first CYP74-related enzyme of oxylipin biosynthesis in brown algae.
