Synthesis and structural characterization of ZnO and CuO nanoparticles supported mesoporous silica SBA-15

Nanosized CuO & ZnO encapsulated in SBA-15 silica network has been prepared by two methods, post-synthesis and direct reaction. The condensed ZnO/SBA-15 composite showed higher mesoporosity order structure than its corresponding impregnated one. The morphology of impregnated and co-condensed CuO/SBA-15 nanocomposites retained same whereas ZnO/ SBA-15 nanocomposite is different. BET surface area of SBA-15 has decreased when metal oxides are incorporated into silica with least surface area for the condensed nanocomposites.
