XAD-7HP had good adsorption/desorption capacities of anthocyanins.

The adsorption process was spontaneous and thermodynamically feasible.

Langmuir and pseudo second-order model was suitable to the adsorption process.

A purity of 93.6% of MA fraction was obtained through gradient elute on XAD-7HP.

This study provides a practical strategy for separating high-purity anthocyanins.
