Connectivity aspects in IEC 61850 and CIM are harmonized to define a common sematic model. Harmonization principles are defined. Transformation algorithms in QVT are developed to support automatic transformation of CIM and IEC 61850 to the harmonized model and vice versa. The method is validated using a case study. A profiling tool for tailoring the harmonized model is developed to aid application development. The development of a simple SCADA application is demonstrated using a profiled model.
