Laponite generates a pronounced shear-thinning behavior in alginate solutions under the gel point. Higher alginate concentrations hinder the rheology modifier effect. The transition from solid-like to liquid-like behavior defines the gel point. The growing elasticity reveals that Laponite/alginate solutions undergo aging.
