A bio-sensing platform based on an infiltrated photonic crystal cavity-coupled waveguide system is presented.

A ring shaped holes cavity configuration is designed and analyzed to exhibit both high sensitivity and high Q factor.

A refractive index sensitivity of 462 nm/RIU and a detection limit of less than 3х10−6RIU are featured.

The designed structure is a promising platform for performing ultra-compact lab-on-a-chip multiplexed sensing.
