Alteration of α-N-acetylgalactosaminidase (nagalase) concentration in alcohol-dependent individuals without liver disease, during the detoxification therapy
Nagalase was determined in alcoholics, during detoxification therapy. Nagalase was elevated in all serum collections compared to the normal controls. There was a progressive fall from admission to discharge. High nagalase concentrations might be associated with macrophage impairment. Nagalase could serve as a marker of alcohol overconsumption.
