Hypoxia induced VEGF expression via up-regulation of Mxi1-0. ROS generation is required for hypoxia-induced VEGF expression. Up-regulation of Mxi1-0 under hypoxia requires ROS generation. ROS mediates hypoxia-induced Mxi1-0 via activation of PI3K/AKT/HIF-1α pathway. Mxi1-0 formed a positive feedback loop with ROS generation upon hypoxia stimulus.
