Dietary l-methionine enrichment increased hepatic S-adenosylmethionine (SAM): S-adenosylhomocysteine (SAH) ratio.

It influenced methionine adenosyltransferase and DNA methyltransferase-key enzymes regulating genomic DNA methylation.

DNA methylation and 5-methyl-2′-deoxy cytidine quantification substantiated role of l-methionine against radiation-toxicity.

Dietary l-methionine supplementation (2 g/kg AIN93M diet; 6 weeks) showed no toxic effect on liver.
