The change to all-graduate entry into therapeutic and diagnostic radiography in the U.K. has had overarching effects on many areas of practice for radiographers. This paper explores the impact of the major change on one dimension of the profession, namely, research in radiography, with an emphasis on the role of qualitative enquiry within a developing paradigm of radiography research in the U.K. The method of enquiry is illuminative, with the aim of revealing dimensions of the knowledge base of radiography, associations between knowledge and power and the utility of research within the profession. The use of qualitative research as an adjuvant and partner to quantitative methodologies is supported and the political nature of a new paradigm of radiographic research explored.
