A comparative study of glucosidases for the preparation of trisaccharides via transglycosylation has been conducted.

High substrate concentrations were used to drive the reaction towards transglycosylation.

The best results were obtained when using transglucosidase from Aspergillus niger, producing panose as major product with 69% yield after 6 h.

Isomaltose was also obtained in 65% at longer reaction times.

These results show the potential of glucosidases working as transglucosidases for oligosaccharide synthesis.
