School-based MDA with praziquantel in combination with track and treat of taeniosis cases significantly reduced the prevalence of taeniosis. Annual MDA was significantly better than biennially MDA. In Mbeya Region taeniosis was associated with increasing age and sex (male). The study highlights the importance of understanding contributing factors in transmission to better design and implement future control programmes. Taenia solium control must adopt a One Health approach if elimination is to be obtained.
