Alumina-coated MCM-41 was synthesized as a H2O adsorbent for adsorption heat pump. The mesopore size was reduced to 2.05 nm by the alumina coating on MCM-41. Hydrothermal stability was remarkably enhanced after the alumina coating. The adsorbent showed ideal H2O capillary condensation in 0.1 < P/Po < 0.3 at 303 K. High H2O working capacity of 0.27 g/g could be retained over 10 AHP cycles.
