Demonstrate acoustic nonlinearity parameter, β is sensitive to microstructure. A 200% increase in the measured β in the heat-affected zone (HAZ). This increase in β is in the absence of sensitization. Induce additional microstructure changes to determine effect on β. Illustrate potential of nonlinear ultrasonics to monitor microstructure changes.
