A detailed analysis of strain, kinematics and age of the shear zone is presented.

Shear strain is heterogeneous and partitioned into low and high strain zones.

The age of main sinistral ductile shear activity is constrained to ca. 685-655 Ma.

During E–W convergence the NE-dipping ASZ was activated as an oblique ramp.

The ongoing Pan-African orogeny caused episodic reactivation at retrograde conditions.
