Why and how industries cluster and evolve in space? Inheritance view is necessary but limited when there is abundant social capital. Co-operative ventures amongst incumbents are part of the entrepreneurial processes. Hybrid spinoffs, mixing de novo and corporate-parent ones are usual in MIDs. Inheritance, agglomeration and social co-operation are self-reinforcing.
