This study compared 52 veterans with anger and aggression problems with 50 control veterans. An increased acoustic startle reflex was found in veterans with anger and aggression problems. The increased startle reflex is not only associated with higher state anger, but with an anxious predisposition as well. This study indicates that threat reactivity is increased in individuals with anger and aggression problems.
