A coupled fermentation system (AT-CFS) for curdlan production was established. Low-molecular-weight curdlan with high production was synthesized in the AT-CFS. The structure of the curdlan from the AT-CFS was the same as that from the A-SFS. The mechanism underlying high curdlan production in the AT-CFS was investigated.
