Utilization of zeolite/polymer composites for gas sensing: A review

文摘
Conductive polymers are less expensive, lighter, and can be operated at lower temperature. Sensitivity and selectivity to a particular species and its temporal response towards a target gas can be achieved by using zeolites. They have an open porosity that gives rise to an exceptionally high surface area which can be operated at room temperatures. The response depends up on two factors- i) Electronegativity and ii) ionic radius of the cation present in the zeolite-polymer composite. Higher electronegativity of the cation present in the zeolite leads to strong binding between the cation and gas molecules instead with polymer; therefore response decreases. Gas sensing of a sensor can be studied by changing various parameters such as: cation type, target gas, Si/Al ratio, pore size of zeolite, zeolite type, zeolite content, cyclic interval etc.
