Metal glycerolate catalysts were produced by heating 50% KOH solution and glycerol. The reaction parameters were optimized using response surface methodology. KOH to glycerol mole ratio and vacuum pressure has most significant effect during the reaction. Optimum condition is mole ratio of 2:1, temp. 130 °C and vacuum of 113 mbar.
