Primary cultures of AFCs express the gene hTERT at different levels. hTERT protein is present in the nuclear and cytoplasmic compartment of AFCs. Cytosolic hTERT is embodied in AFCs secreted extracellular vesicles. Those findings indicate a new potential extra telomeric role for hTERT. AFCs derived EVs might represent a useful tool for regenerative medicine.
