Weak interactions at the molecular level are quantitatively associated with a macroscopically biological effect. Metal bridge formed in extracellular biofilms acts through a suppressive trans-biofilm transport to protect bacterial cells. Bacterial growth rate depends on the bridging energy at the anchoring site.
