Nano ceria based catalysts were rapidly prepared by citrate complexation method. More of oxygen vacancies and basic sites were presented in RE doped ceria samples. More structural defects should be responsible for the improved catalytic stability. The fast deactivation could be attributed to the existence of too many basic sites.
