β-triketones herbicides, derived from allelochemicals, have a new mode of action. They are rather mobile and their mobility depends mainly on soil pH. They are easily photodegraded and biotransformed into many degradation products. Their toxicity and impact on microorganisms and plants are mainly due to degradation products. The formulations are more toxic than the active ingredients.
