Discontinuous yielding occurs in Ti-Al alloy hot compressed with high strain rates. Discontinuous yielding is attributed to the multiplication of dislocations and twins. Deformation twinning significantly contributes to grain refinement of Ti-Al alloy. High strain rate is more affective for the refinement and homogenization of grains.
