Lysine is the main amino acid for protein deposition and is important for metabolic interactions with other amino acids. Protein retention efficiency to determine the digestible lysine requirements of bullfrogs is biologically more adequate. The requirement of essential amino acids using the ideal ratio permits the formulation of appropriate balance diets. The digestible lysine requirement of bullfrogs is 2.71% on a total diet or 8.91% of dietary digestible protein.
