Pseudoacanthocephalus toshimai sp. nov. is proposed for acanthocephalans from amphibians of Hokkaido, Japan.
Pseudoacanthocephalus lucidus comb. nov. is also proposed for acanthocephalans from amphibians of Honshu, Japan.
Genetic distinctiveness and allopatric isolation support the proposals.
Ligidium japonicum, a woodlouse living in forests, serves as an intermediate host for the new species.
