Habitat trees and salamanders: Conservation and management implications in temperate forests

文摘
Spectacled salamanders use tree stumps as shelters. Tree morphology can be used as a predictor of shelter quality. Large trees with many holes at the trunk base are often used as permanent shelters. Holes are linked to the number of buttresses emerging from the trunk. Retention of large trees with many buttresses can help salamanders conservation.
