Cooling-down thermography is developed to reveal plastered wall paintings. Thermal criteria for spatial resolution optimization of NDT methods are defined. A sample with several pigments patterns was fabricated to approve the method. A very sharp thermal image giving the best definition of the pattern is obtained. The method is sensitive enough to distinguish the nature of the pigments.
