Economic feasibility of microalgal bacterial floc production for wastewater treatment and biomass valorization: A detailed up-to-date analysis of up-scaled pilot results
MaB-floc system costs are comparable to other wastewater treatment systems. Capital costs and mixing costs represent the largest expenses. Substantial revenues are generated with shrimp feed commercialization. Conversion of MaB-flocs to biogas generates little value. High-purity phycocyanin production from food-industry MaB-flocs is most lucrative.
