Daily MODIS images can be utilized to characterize large scale flooding dynamics. Mapping open water and vegetation provides more information on flooding extent. Low spatial resolution of MODIS is a major limitation in mapping small floods. Time-series of multiple indices improves understanding of arid zone flood dynamics.
