Beta-carotene in a lipid matrix was analyzed by means of XRPD and Hyper-DSC.

Different microscopic techniques were compared: AFM, PLM, 3D-laser profiling.

The previous methods demonstrated issues of sampling and sensitivity.

A new flow-through cross-polarized light imaging technique was introduced.

The novel tool enabled a robust detection of already a few crystalline particles.
