A first MMT reinforced nanocomposite functionalized with ether linkage derived from tetraglycidyl/diglycidyl epoxy building block

A unique TGBAPB tetraglycidyl epoxy resin was developed and blended with conventional DGEBA. OMMT nano clay of different weight percentages viz 1%, 3% and 5% was reinforced with the blend epoxy. From the study, we observed that thermal stability and mechanical properties for the blend epoxy and nanocomposites are higher than that of neat. Simultaneous achievement of both toughness and stiffness in DGEBA type epoxy resin is a novel approach.
