Tribological behaviour of serial, polished and laser-patterned chain links. Numerical simulation to estimate the normal load distribution in chain links. Serial and patterned chain link (cross-pattern) show superior performance. Good load bearing capacity for serial chain link could be verified. Oil storage and pressure build-up are the main factors for the cross-pattern.
